Health Hazards

  • Ingestion: May irritate the mouth, esophagus, and stomach. It may cause gastroenteritis if ingested into the stomach and intestines.
  • Eyes: May cause temporary irritation.
  • Skin Contact: Causes skin to become degreased and dry upon contact.
  • Inhalation (skin): Unlikely unless by accident. It is not generally inhaled into the skin.
  • Inhalation (respiratory): Mist or vapor may irritate the trachea if inhaled.
  • Chloride Influence: None.
  • Inhalation (excessive exposure): If inhaled in excessive amounts, there may be short-term irritation, but no long-term effects are expected.
  • Skin Sensitivity: People with sensitive skin or allergies to alkaline substances may experience skin degreasing and dryness with prolonged exposure, potentially leading to dermatitis or other skin conditions.

Emergency Rescue Measures

  • Ingestion: Induce vomiting, dilute with water, or seek medical attention immediately.
  • Eyes: Open eyelids wide and rinse with clean water for at least 15 minutes. If redness or swelling persists, seek medical attention as soon as possible. Frequent and short-term contact does not require medical treatment.
  • Inhalation (respiratory): Unless accidental, inhalation is unlikely. If it occurs, monitor symptoms and seek medical attention if necessary.
  • Emergency Rescue Equipment: None required.
  • Doctor’s Advice: Accidental ingestion or reflux of digestive products may lead to gastroenteritis.
